When you need treatment for foot and ankle conditions, Haro Podiatry Center is ready to help. We provide treatment for a wide array of medical issues, including ones that cause heel pain or have happened because of a sports injury.

Our practice is committed to comprehensive foot care at our Clifton, New Jersey office but some of the general areas we focus on include:

Heel Pain

Heel Pain Help Haro Podiatry

Many different conditions can cause heel pain, but some of the more common include plantar fasciitis (inflamed ligament on the bottom of the foot), Achilles tendinitis, Sever’s disease, and even stress fractures. Fortunately, most sources of heel pain are treated successfully with the use of non-surgical methods. One advanced treatment we are proud to offer is laser therapy.

Laser therapy can be effective when the source of the heel pain is one of the soft tissues that connect to the heel bone – more specifically, the plantar fascia or Achilles tendon. In soft tissue injuries, Dr. Haro can use our laser to target damaged tissues. Concentrated laser energy can travel down to the tendon or fascia and then stimulate and speed up growth and regeneration at the cellular level (which are natural healing processes). This technology also improves blood flow to the affected tissue, which further speeds up the body’s ability to heal itself.

Diabetic Foot Care

One of the important services we provide for our patients is diabetic foot care. Diabetic individuals simply must use an array of measures to successfully manage this dangerous disease. One of those measures is to prevent foot issues, or at least find and treat them in the earliest possible stages to lower the risk of serious medical complications. A common condition that we specialize in treating is diabetic neuropathy. Symptoms of neuropathy include: burning, sharp stabbing pains, pins and needles, restless legs, tingling and numbness to feet.

Dr. Haro can help you (or your loved one) create an effective diabetic foot care plan to protect your vulnerable feet and catch problems at their earliest stages. Further, our practice also provides treatment to resolve issues before they become critical.

Child Foot Care

Child Foot Care Haro Podiatry

Too often, parents don’t realize that the child who tires easily from physical activity, falls often, or complains of pain in their legs, knees, or lower back might have an issue in his or her feet causing these problems. It is important to keep in mind that some children will live with the pain and discomfort without complaining about it, so make sure you pay attention for limping or sudden withdrawal from favorite sports and activities. These indicate an existing problem!

Another potential warning sign of a foot or ankle issue for your child? Your own feet (and those of the other parent). Children often inherit familial skeletal imbalances. So, if you have flat feet or knee, hip, or back pain, it’s quite possible your children will have similar problems.

Naturally, you don’t want your child to be in pain, so bring your son or daughter in to see Dr. Haro. He can assess the nature of the problem and create a treatment plan to resolve them in a caring, gentle manner.

Remember the best time to correct issues with a child’s structural alignment and cure “growing pains” is when your child’s bones are still growing!

Skin and Toenail Conditions

Many issues can develop in your toenails and the skin on your feet. You could possibly develop fungal toenails, athlete’s feet, warts, ingrown nails, ulcers, cysts, blisters, and corns and calluses (to name a few problems). These may seem like they are cosmetic, but some cases also cause pain and discomfort. It is always best to treat them at an early stage.

An embarrassing, yet fairly common, problem is fungal infections in the feet or toes. Athlete’s foot and fungal toenails are two that happen with great frequency. We know that it can be uncomfortable or downright embarrassing to think about the fact you’ve contracted a fungal infection, but Dr. Haro can help. Now, there’s a decent chance you can take care of Athlete’s foot on your own—of course, we’re here to help if you have a stubborn case and cannot find relief—but you will likely need professional care to clear up toenail fungus.

If you have discolored, distorted, and unsightly toenails, schedule an appointment with us. When you do, be sure to ask about the laser therapy we offer for unsightly toenails.

Sports Injuries

Some of the common sports injuries we see in our patients include sprained ankles, stress fractures, and Achilles tendonitis. When you are hurt in the field of play, while running, or in any physical activity, Haro Podiatry Center offers services to get you back on your feet in no time. Our cutting-edge Class IV laser therapy can help alleviate your pain and speed your recovery.
